Panini America Shares Sights (and Slams) of the 2015 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot :

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, Jahlil Okafor and 34 other top picks
from the 2015 NBA Draft descended upon the New York Knicks practice facility on Saturday
to participate in the high-energy, high-yield, highly entertaining 2015 Panini America NBA Rookie Photo Shoot,
slipping into their NBA uniforms to take pictures for the trading cards that will be collected for the rest of their careers.

Panini America occupied one of the two full-sized courts in the massive gymnasium (the NBA set up shop on the other one)
and spent the day running the unparalleled assemblage of NBA star power through an array of unique photography stations
and an action-packed marketing station that included a commercial video shoot (more on that later)
and the inaugural #PaniniDunk Trick Shot Challenge that played out all day long on Instagram.

The live finale — pitting Duke’s Justise Winslow vs. Kentucky’s Towns — was streamed to millions of viewers on Facebook.

Some of the photos taken yesterday were turned around on the spot to create special 2015 NBA Rookie Photo shoot virtual cards
for Panini America’s new NBA Panini Dunk app, available now on the iTunes App Store.

Trust us, we’ll have plenty more on the exciting new app in the coming days.

One of the most important weekends of the basketball collecting season actually tipped off on Friday
with an extended Panini America signing session in conjunction with the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program.

That day, the players signed autographs for upcoming products such as 2015-16 Court Kings Basketball
and 2015-16 Prizm Basketball, and posed for the pictures that will grace each player’s Next Day cards.

The players will receive their Personal Edition Next Day cards later today at the conclusion of the weekend’s events.

Panini America officials also will include Next Day Autographs (being signed today) in an upcoming 2015-16 NBA product.

Clearly, there’s a lot coming out of the 2015 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot left to cover
and we’ll get to that soon enough. Today, though, we want to bring you some must-see sights, sounds, slams and shots from the first two days.

he venerable Prestige Basketball franchise made a huge splash last season as the first
of three 2015-16 NBA products that Panini America officials transformed into Target-exclusive releases.

While the reconfiguration seemed to catch many collectors by surprise, it didn’t take long
for many of them to adjust to and embrace a small number of retail-exclusive releases.

Given that backdrop and with a year of Target-exclusivity under its belt, the all-new 2015-16 Prestige
is on its way to Target stores now boasting four unique SKUs and bolstered by full-bleed action photography,
a compelling array of autograph and memorabilia content, some of the first Rookie Cards of the season and more.

In the extensive gallery that follows, we showcase many of the gems that surfaced
during the recent Quality Control process for the Plus edition.

Before the gallery, though, here’s a breakdown of 2015-16 Prestige four configurations :

Plus

Four autograph or memorabilia cards per box on average, with at least one on-card rookie autograph

look for six different SKU-exclusive autograph inserts including including NBA Passports featuring
and on-card rookie autograph numbered to 99;

find jumbo rookie swatches in Freshman Fabrics Jumbo and exclusive Checkerboard parallels numbered to 99.

Blaster

One autograph or memorabilia card and four Acetate Rookies per blaster box on average

find exclusive insert parallels numbered to 99 or less; look for Blaster-exclusive memorabilia cards
from 10 of the NBA’s top rookies with prime parallels numbered to 25.

Gravity Feed

Find one Rookie Card and one Gravity Feed-exclusive Brilliant Beginnings insert per pack, on average

look for rare Brilliant Beginnings Starburst parallels falling one in every nine packs,
on average. Find rare Gravity Feed-exclusive Crystal insert parallels numbered to 125.

Hanger Box

Find two Rookie Cards and one Acetate Rookie Card per Hanger Box, on average

also find Hanger Box-exclusive Freshman Flashback Jumbo cards featuring memorabilia from Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard and more.

Just like last year, 2015-16 Panini Prestige is exclusive to Target.

The retail-only product offers multiple box formats covering many options and catering to multiple budgets.

The full-bleed base set features a large foil brand logo and is the easy way to distinguish the various colored parallels.

Although not noted as specific to one format, inserts include Franchise Favorites, Playmakers,
Prestigious Passers, Prestigious Pros and Stat Stars.

Autographs include several different sets with the likely favorite being the rookie-centered Prestigious Premieres Signatures
with on-card autographs. Focusing on young stars and former greats, Distinctive Ink includes some big NBA names.

Stars of the NBA is also an autograph set packed with top talent from the past and present.

Showcasing a retro look, Old School Signatures go back into the history of the league with more signers.

Covering the more seasoned stars, relics come in the form of True Colors and NBA Materials.

Among the specific box formats, Plus Boxes are the most premium and feature four hits per box.

One of six exclusive autograph inserts, NBA Passports boast on-card autographs and a print run of 99.

Freshman Fabrics Jumbo add large relic pieces and the Checkerboard (#/99) parallels are also exclusives.

Promising one hit per box, Blasters also include four Acetate Rookies.

In addition to exclusive insert parallels numbered to 99 or less, blasters are also the only place to find rookie relics for ten top players.

Prime parallels (#25) are also available for these rookies.

Although Hanger Boxes don't guarantee any hits, collectors can find two rookie cards and one Acetate Rookie in each.

Exclusive to the hanger format, Freshman Flashback Jumbo cards include relics
from top players like Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

Lastly, Gravity Feed Boxes yield the most packs and several exclusive options.

In addition to one rookie card per pack, collectors can find one exclusive Brilliant Beginnings insert card.

Dropping 1:9 packs, Brilliant Beginnings Starburst parallels add more choices.

There are also exclusive Crystal insert parallels, numbered to 125

2015-16 Prestige has lots of action photography. It also has autographs and memorabilia cards to go with other inserts.

On all accounts, it’s a standard release that sticks with other Prestige products over the years.

But it’s taking a page from some recent history, arriving as a Target exclusive for the second year in a row.

And, once again, there are several different configurations each with their own exclusives.

The 2015-16 Prestige Basketball base set takes a basic approach.

All the shots in the main part of the release show in-game action. No borders exist on the cards.

Rather there’s a silver foil banner with the Prestige logo in the middle.
Underneath is the nameplate, which has also been done in silver foil.

Numbered Bonus Shots parallels come in several colors such as Red, Blue, Purple and Green.

Plus boxes have the most autographs and memorabilia cards of any of the configurations.

These ten-pack boxes (six cards per pack) have one on-card rookie autograph plus three additional hits.

Six autograph insert sets are only in Plus boxes. Jumbo Freshman Fabrics
and Checkerboard (/99) parallels are also exclusive to these boxes.

2015-16 Prestige blasters have one autograph or memorabilia card.

They’ve also got four Acetate Rookie cards. A blaster-exclusive memorabilia set has a checklist of ten rookies.

Also randomly inserted here are insert parallels that are limited to 99 copies or less.

Hanger boxes have a pair of rookie cards and one Acetate Rookie.

Freshman Flashback Jumbo memorabilia cards are only found in these types of boxes.

Each gravity feed pack has a rookie card plus one Brilliant Beginnings card that isn’t found in any other packs.

Brilliant Beginnings have Starburst parallels that land 1:9 packs.

Crystal insert parallels, another gravity pack exclusive, are numbered to 125.
