Panini America Delivers a Detailed Sneak Peek at 2022-23 Panini Contenders :
2022-23 Panini Contenders looks to the NBA season
with special coverage for top rookies.
Based on the initial information from Panini, it seems
the Hobby box format has decreased from 10 cards per pack
(and 12 packs per box)
to eight cards per pack (and four packs per box) for '22-23.
Hobby boxes still average two autographs.

In addition, the First Off the Line boxes
for 2022-23 Panini Contenders provide exclusive content.
Each 1st Off The Line box has one Blue Shimmer (#/21)
or Red Shimmer (#/5) autograph
and one Opening Night Ticket parallel (#/25).
The "Dutch Auction" pricing starts at $1,000 per box
and then decreases until hitting $400 per box or selling out.

2022-23 Panini Contenders Base / Inserts
As usual, the base set for 2022-23 Panini Contenders
features the Season Ticket line.
Per Panini, there are "all-new Hobby-exclusive
Season Tickets, including rare Premium Edition versions."
The variations, parallels and inserts
combine to average 10 per Hobby box.
Hobby-exclusive inserts include Lottery Ticket,
Rookie of the Year Contenders, Suite Shots,
Superstar Die-Cuts, and Ticket to the Hall.
In addition, collectors can chase the License to Dominate
and Permit to Dominate short prints in Hobby boxes.

in 2022-23 Panini Contenders.
For many collectors, this also means
a strong flow of first-year signatures.
While not the only autographs in the product,
they do make up the majority of them.
Hobby boxes are kept small with just four packs.
Two of those do have autographs, though.

one of Panini’s longest running brands.
2022-23 Contenders Hobby boxes
will be much leaner than in past years.
Does that mean the content will be meaner?
We’ll have to wait and see but the product
is definitely undergoing a bit of a reboot, perhaps
with an eye on quality over quantity.
Last year, Contenders offered 12 packs
with ten cards in each–pretty
standard for the brand.
This season, Panini says Hobby boxes will
contain just four packs with eight cards per pack.
Each box will still carry two autographs
and cases will again hold 12 boxes.
The rest of the box content will include
a mix of “ten inserts, parallels
or variations,” according to Panini.
Base cards once again carry the Season Ticket label.
There will be some Hobby exclusive Season
Tickets including rare Premium Edition versions.
Exactly what those entail wasn’t explained.
Panini is touting on-card autographs, with Rookie
Tickets again the signature line for Contenders.
Championship Ticket Rookies and Cracked Ice
Rookie Tickets will offer rarer versions.
More on-card autographs from current
and former stars will be found in Veteran Season Ticket
and various parallels such as Playoffs and Finals Tickets.
Panini is promising short-printed Premium Edition Autographs,
including Gold (#/10) and Gold Vinyl (#/1) versions.
Hobby-exclusive inserts include Lottery Ticket, Superstar Die Cuts,
Suite Shots, Rookie of the Year Contenders, Ticket to the Hall

Of course, the on-card Ticket autographs remain
the key part of the 2022-23 Panini Contenders checklist.
This includes Rookie Ticket cards in limited parallels
such as The Finals, Cracked Ice and Championship.
The first-year players are joined by
seasoned talent in the Veteran Ticket line.
Look for rare Playoff, The Finals,
and Championship tickets
for past and present players.
On top of that, the Premium Edition autographs
include Gold (#/10) and Gold Vinyl (1/1) parallels.

they’re joined by Rookie Ticket Autographs.
They’re among the most recognized Rookie Cards
in the hobby, particularly in football
but strong on the hardwood as well.
According to Panini, these have on-card ink.
In addition to the base versions,
there are several parallels.
Many of these take on game themes where
the higher the stakes, the lower the print run.
Tough Premium Edition versions
come on chromium stock
and have their own Gold (/10)
and Gold Vinyl (1/1) parallels.
Active and retired stars are featured
in Veteran Ticket Autographs. Again,
there are more parallels here.
Contenders has some other inserts as well including
a new installment of Superstar Die-Cuts.
You won’t find these in retail packs, just hobby.
License to Dominate and Permit to Dominate
are box exclusive to hobby packs.
They also happen to be among the harder chase cards to find.
Lottery Ticket and new Season Tickets, which also have
Premium Edition versions, are both only in hobby packs as well.

with a smaller box format but all of the new rookies
as well as some new looks for the long-running brand.
The Basics :
Each box will include 10 inserts (inserts, parallels or variations)
along with base cards and the hits.
There will be The Finals Tickets,
Championship Tickets, Playoff Tickets
with varying finishes and parallels
for rookies and veterans.
Cracked Ice was among the teased
finishes but neither were detailed in full
in advance for this one.
There also will be short-printed Season Ticket cards
and Premium Edition autographs with Gold (/10)
and 1/1 Gold Vinyl parallels.
Among inserts here are :
